16 Things I Can Do Now That I'm 16

Hey guys! I hope you're all doing well, I sure am because this week it was my birthday!!!! YAYYYYY šŸŽµHappy birthday to me, happy birthday to meeeeee šŸŽµ. I'm now 16 and apart from 18 this is like one of the main ages where you can do stuff that you couldn't do before so sit back, relax and get ready to read 16 things I can do now that I'm 16.

1.Drive a moped (with a licence of course)

Yes, watch out road users I can now legally drive a moped...Well, I mean, I could if I could afford a moped and if my parents would let me ride a moped (I don't OFFICIALLY need parental consent but like a moped would be pretty difficult to hide) . So I wouldn't be expecting to see me whizzing along the M50 or anything any time soon.

2.Buy a lottery ticket

Ah, growing up am I right? Drinking, mopeds, gambling what could possibly go wrong?

3.Change name by deed poll

Not gonna lie, when I first saw this I thought it said Deadpool and I was very confused but I guess I can change my name now. Although to be fair I couldn't even come up with a decent name for my readers so while this is something I can do, I probably won't.

4.Work up to 8 hours per day (40 hours per week)

Yup, you read it right, ya girl can now work 40 hours a week (please forget that I just said ya girl and move on please, quick just go to the next one while I curl up and die of cringe)

5.Own a dog

I have always wanted a dog so this is a dream come true! I probably definitely can't afford it though so I'll have to really take advantage of number 4 if this is ever gonna happen.

6.Work vehicle such as a tractor or JCB, jet ski or motor boat capable of 17 knots or more (again with a licence)

So now, not only can I drive a moped but all of these things as well! To be honest I only really care about the jet ski and now I really wanna ride a jet ski.

7.Get married

Like I could get married apart from the fact that I'm astonishingly single and don't want to but apart from that this seems plausable.

8.Pay a full fare on buses and trains

To be fully honest I doubt anyone would have objected to me doing this before I was 16 but like I officially have to now YAY!

9.Join the Armed Forces w/ parental consent

I can barely roll out of bed in the morning let alone join the army. Don't think this is a right I'll be taking advantage of.

10. Use the spa in most hotels

As far as I can remember, most hotels have an age limit of 16 on their spa facilities. Relaxation, here I come!

11. Join a trade union

Again don't think this will be much use to me since as I said in my post 'My Dream Job' I don't have a clue what area I want to work in.

12. Drink wine/beer with a meal if accompanied by someone over 18

I was so shocked when I saw this while researching for this post. I still kind of don't believe it because I've never heard of this before. Please if you know about this comment and tell me if this is true or not because I feel like I would have heard of this before.

13. Leave School

While I don't love school, I actually don't hate it so I will probably stick with it for now.

14. Enter some competitions

I saw 16+ on the back of a soft drink bottle to enter a competition and I knew I had to include it in this post. Yay! I can see competitions and throw away the bottle and forget about it, only now I would be able to enter if I wanted!!!!

15. Register as a blood donor, but you won't be called to give blood until you're 17

Don't really understand why this is a law if I can't give the blood yet but this is something I might look into.

 16. See films rated 16 in the cinema

Saved the best until last! Thanks to this one I can now legally see movies like 'IT' and 'Blockers' in the cinema. (Which I definitely didn't do before now). Prepare for me to waste even more money on trips to the cinema!

So that wraps up this weeks post. I hope you enjoyed this as I've never seen anyone do a post like this before. Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments. 1. HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY!! I loved this post! Now I will have in mind what I can do when I turn 16! šŸŽ‰

  2. Happy birthday!! Yes, you can definitely drink an alcoholic drink with a meal now. In my local pub it was a running joke after my 16th birthday that whenever I went there for food I could finally have a drink. Enjoy that new ability :)

    1. Haha thanks for letting me know! I'd never heard of that before!

  3. I remember when I finally got these "privileges" :) In the States, you won't be done being excluded from things until you're 35. You can run for President then!

    1. Hahaha I think it's 30 in Ireland! Still quite a long wait!

  4. OH fun! I don't think you can buy a lottery ticket till you're 18 in the US though. Where are you from?

  5. I didn't know there was such a thing as a 16 rated film? Where are you from? I also didn't realise that restrictions were lifted on so many things at the age of 16! Happy belated birthday! I hope you had a great time x

    1. Thank you! I'm Irish and most films aren't rated 15 but a few recently have been like 'it' and 'blockers'

  6. Happy belated birthday, my dear! <3

  7. When I turned 16 I said I was going to buy a lottery ticket every week and see if I won...it's 3 years later and I've still never bought a lottery ticket haha!
