Meet the blogger: Karlie

Hello wonderful people, today I'm delighted to introduce you to another lovely blogger, Karlie from wanderingnobody.com. I hope you enjoy getting to know her!

Introduce yourself
Hi! I'm Karlie, the voice behind Wandering Nobody.

Describe your blog and why you started it?
I like to describe my blog as "Travel. Life. +etc." I'm mostly posting about travel related topics and product reviews of subscriptions I love, but I don't want to be limited by that if my brain decides it's set on something else. :) I started my blog because I wanted to talk about my travels. I just started seriously traveling last year and I don't ever want to stop! I realize how lucky I am and how much I read before I started on each destination. I know what I was looking for, so that's where I got my muse. Now, I've realized, a big reason I started was because I love writing and I wanted to write for myself and not for my career. Only one month in and I've learned so much about myself and the real reasons that truly drove me to start blogging.

What’s been your favourite blog post to write and why?
My favorite blog post has been my most recent one, "How I Adjusted Moving to a Big City." I wrote it for my 4th anniversary of moving to Chicago. I grew up in a town of 400 and moved to a city with over 3 million people. I was a mess at the beginning! It was really fun to reflect and see how I've grown and to help anyone else that is making a similar move. It's so daunting and intimidating, but oh so worth it!

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why?

If I could go anywhere...oh goodness this is a hard one! I want to go to all of the places! I've always been fascinated by the culture and the history of Cuba. I'm not entirely sure what sparked it, but it's always been there. So, I would have to choose Cuba. The culture, the history, the music, the people, the dancing...it's always been fascinating to me.

What’s been the most challenging moment of your blogging journey so far?
So far, the most challenging thing has just been learning! I'm a Type A kind of person and it's been really hard to not go back and edit 38201 times after I hit publish because I see a small error that nobody else will notice. I recently read in a blogger boot camp email series that everyone is bad at something until they're good. THAT IS SO TRUE. It's been so hard taking that in stride as I'm learning the ins and outs of all of this blogging stuff. I had zero experience, so it's been pretty challenging.

What is your favourite thing about being a blogger?
My favorite thing about being a blogger is two things. :) I love learning about myself along the way and I love interacting with the blogging community! The people within are so fantastic, welcoming, and helpful. Had I known about the blogging community before, I would have dove in a lot sooner!

What’s your favourite book, movie and Tv show?
Asking someone about their favorite book and movie should be a crime. There are too many factors, but I'll try. My favorite book is Sarah's Key. My favorite movie is 1) Hairspray and 2) all of the Halloween movies excluding the 3rd. My favorite TV show is Grey's Anatomy - been a fan since day one in 2005!

What is your number one piece of advice for new bloggers?
My advice for new bloggers (which is myself included) is JUST GO FOR IT. Don't let fear and insecurity hold you back. Start, go for it, be brave, and do it! You'll grow and feel more comfortable starting with the first time you hit publish.

Who are your favourite bloggers?

My goodness. For my favorite bloggers...that's tough! The whole community on Twitter and Instagram has been spectacular! One that comes to mind that really inspired me starting my journey is John Sennett (@ThestoryofJS) because he has amazing "check yourself" tweets that make you focus on yourself in the crazy blogging world. I don't want to leave people out that have been amazing in the Twitter-world, so I won't name anyone. But, I will say, you all are amazing and keep up with that uplifting spirit!

Where do you think your blog will take you in the future?

In terms of the future of my blog, I have no idea. I'm kind of taking it as I go. I've only been doing this for one month and I've changed the mission of my blog slightly several times. I think that's the amazing thing about blogging - it grows with you and you dictate what happens, not someone above you. I hope to reach out to fellow travelers and make new experiences for myself through this network. That's what my ultimate dream is, but I'm also OK with just writing to whoever is reading and reaching other like-minded people.

So that wraps up this week's meet the blogger installment! I really hope you guys are enjoying this series so far, let me know in the comments. Also, I just wanted to clarify that I am not the person who's answering these questions. There's links to the other blogger's blogs in each post. That's it for today, thank you so so so so so so so so much for reading!
